Members of the Nu Alpha Kappa fraternity are camping out in the Quad at California State University, Stanislaus from Sunday (Nov. 1) through Friday, November 6 during their Homelessness Awareness Week event to raise money, canned food, and clothing donations.

While they are conducting their camp-in demonstration in the Quad to raise awareness of the homelessness problem in the region, they will also be holding a number of special events. A documentary film on homelessness will be shown all day and in the evening on Monday in the Carol Burke Student Lounge; representatives of the local homeless, We Care, United Samaritan Foundation, and Turlock Gospel Mission will speak from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday; and a candlelight vigil will be conducted in the Quad on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Receptacles will be set up in the Quad where fraternity members will be accepting canned food and clothing donations as well as financial contributions. The fraternity raised more than $700 during last year’s program and gave the donations to United Samaritans and We Care.
